Paddle Canada's SUP Basics course introduces paddlers to all the information necessary to confidently launch into the sport of stand up paddling including board construction and design, choosing the right board for your needs, forward stroke technique, turning techniques, self rescue and aquatic decision making in flatwater environments, day-trip planning, and equipment used in the various disciplines of SUP from immersion gear options to equipment considerations for eventually progressing onwards into touring, surf and river SUP course. Taught at Lake Edith by a registered Paddle Canada SUP instructor. Participants must pre-register online for this course and a certificate of completion will be provided so that participants may prove their ability to advance into other Paddle Canada SUP courses for which this course is a prerequisite.
